DxO One Grant
Exploring The World
Road to Nyapyidaw
Vivek Prabhu - Karnataka, India
This project is a reflection of Nyapyidaw, the new capital city of Myanmar in the eyes of the people of Myanmar.
Information about me:
My name is Vivek Prabhu and I am a self-taught photographer with specific interest in cities, and how people around the world take to cities. My attempt through photography is to delve deeper into city life and tell stories, raise questions, and present a new view point that ignites interests, triggers conversations and motivates people to pay attention to issues that plague our cites and come up with useful solutions.
My Proposal for the DXO-Grant:
I intend to visit Mynamar's capital city of Nyapyidaw, and take a series of photographs of how life is in the city, and how it contrasts to Yangon or Mandalay, both have been capital-cities of Myanmar in the past. My approach would be to tell the story of Nyapyidaw from the eyes of its people, and not to simply dismiss it off as a bizarre city that is a result of the junta's largesse or paranoia.
The DXO-One is the ideal camera for this project, as I would have to travel light, engage with people and see things from their perspective.
I shall use the proceeds of the grant to make travel arrangements to Myanmar, and to curate a strong portfolio of my work in print, web and mobile.
