Barbora Vávrová - CZ, Česko

I'm a photographer from the Czech Republic who loves to visit and explore new countries, especially those that aren't so popular and well-known like the others.
Visiting Armenia is on my list for long time. This country is quite "undiscovered" and many people don't know anything about this country and its history and I thinks it's a pity, because Armenia deserves much more attention. I would love to capture the beauty of this country, in a creative way. Both landscapes and people.

Some years ago I met a woman in a museum who was Armenian citizen. She was forced to leave the country but the whole life she dreamt of coming back. She told me stories about the people, beautiul nature but also sad ones about the genocide and how many of her family members had to die. But I started to feel that I really need to see this country one day.

I would like to take creative photos, both selfportraits and portraits of people from Armenia to capture the beauty of the country in a original way. Not usual travel photos, nothing like that. I want humans to become part of the enviroment, to fully connect with the nature and feel the importance of history.

So far I visited mostly western European countries, especially Norway where I used to live. Beautiful country, but what I really missed was open friendly people with smile on their faces. In a western world we can afford to live well, almost everyone can have a fancy car and beautiful house, but somehow we are more and more distant from each other. I think it's completely different in the east, where people are still full of joy, they are friendly and helpful even though their lives are very often much harder than ours. I think this is what we should learn again before it's too late ad social media and technology kill our ability to communicate and share face to face. I believe humans are deeply connected between each other and also with nature and it's important to not to forget about it. Unfortunately last years I feel like we do forget. Espeacially when I come back home to the Czech Republic from Norway, I can still see the huge difference how we treat each other here and how they do in a rich modern country.

Beside being a photographer, I also write a blog, I can write some articles to a travel magazines, I have a succesful Instragram account. I would like to share stories from Armenia and compare it with everything I experienced so far. I would love to do a exhibition o the photos with the comments to each photo. I feel like every country is a land of stories and I think I'm a good person to see them, hear them and share them with others in a way that makes people listen.

I would write a diary during the journey, I would share photos every day, I would let the country to inspire me for taking unusual creative portraits of people and nature. I woul also love to publish a book from the journey.

Grants would be used to finance all the travel expensies like flight ticket, accomodation, transport and food. If there is anything left, I could use it for printing the photos for a exhibiton or for a book.
