Hayk Melkonyan - Yerevan, Armenia
The project entitled “Armenia: Off the beaten paths” which consists of photos of wilderness, untouched landscapes , such distant and difficult to access regions of Armenia as mountains and gorges of Syunik, Geghama range and forests in the Northern parts of the country. This regions are unknown not only for tourists, but for the most of locals.
The main aim of the project is to represent the unique beauty of wild and diverse landscapes of Armenia through exhibition and webpage , to support and development such types of tourism activities like hiking, trekking, mount biking, bird watching, photo tours , based on sustainable tourism principles.
My name is Hayk Melkonyan. I am professional photographer and mountain guide. I left the capital of Armenia and moved to the rural region in the Southern part of Armenia to promote tourism in the area . Being a professional mountain guide I know Armenia from inside - unknown and not popular among tourists , wild and undiscovered but even more beautiful ,majestic and gorgeous .
The goal of the project is to accomplish the collection of already shot photos and shoot more to finalize the project and organize a mobile exhibition which will be available not only in Armenia but also abroad. The final step of the project is to create a webpage about unique and not available to all undiscovered Armenia” Off the beaten paths ” .
Competition grants I am planning to use for traveling in Armenia and organization of mobile photo exhibition, and later using that photos for creation of the web page.
The photos attached below are just samples of the already collected materials shot within this framework .
