Henry Michaels - SAMPLE - Indiana, USA

SAMPLE

Across the so-called "Rust Belt" of the U.S northeast lie innumerable abandoned factories and similar structures. Within are found anomalous object, sometimes accidental and occasionally deliberate.

SAMPLE

I am a orthodontist by profession, and a photographer by avocation. I have been an avid photographer since a teenager and studied visual art as a minor while an undergraduate at university.

I live in a small town in central Indiana and use my weekends and vacations exploring abandoned structures throughout the eastern half of North America.

Across this so-called "Rust Belt" I have discovered that within the innumerable abandoned factories and similar structures are sometimes found anomalous objects, occasionally accidental and sometimes deliberate. This includes the use of dancers and models as subjects, and also found objects including graffiti.

My proposed project is to continue an already year-long project with the intent of producing a body of fine-art images for gallery exhibit and as a possible portfolio or book.

I intend to use the proceeds of the Grant to finance additional travel as well as to mount a gallery show, and possibly either a privately printed portfolio or limited edition book.

The sample of images attached shows just a few of the photographs of this subject which I have produced during the past year.
